Your hosts: Ty & Denise Henson (and Cadillac Jack)
Happily married since 1990, they moved to Sandpoint Idaho in 2004 from San Diego California, to fulfill a dream of living in the beauty of this area and enjoying all it has to offer. They bought a fixer upper motel and began working on it's transformation. With very hard work an inspirational goal was achieved.
Ty and Denise wanted to offer their guests, travelers and locals affordable accommodations with a comfortable clean product. They also wanted to support local Sandpoint businesses and purchased all of the furnishings from local vendors: Misty Mountain Furniture hand crafted our head boards and night stands, Belwoods Furniture for our carpeting, Sandpoint Furniture for our mattresses and Fifth Phase Furniture (a local craftsman) made our tables, chairs and desks. However the remodeling, landscaping and other work was done by Ty and Denise. They created a gift shop and lobby filled with Idaho souvenirs, postcards, ice cold soda pops, T shirts, hats etc.
In 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 the Meandering Moose Motel was voted best of Bonner County. Ty and Denise are members of the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, the Selkirk Loop, and the Discovery Map.
They love it here, and they are very dog friendly. Ty and Denise are proud of their hard work and welcome you to their motel: The Meandering Moose Motel, Sandpoint Idaho. The Meandering Moose's location is ideal for anyone visiting Sandpoint. We are walking distance from everything! It is just 6 blocks to City Beach on gorgeous Lake Pend Oreille, 5 blocks from the shops and restaurants of downtown Sandpoint, and just 3 blocks to Memorial Field and the Festival at Sandpoint! Rated 5 Stars (out of 5) Love this cute place! By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/08
What a great motel. My wife & I stayed there two nights during our vacation. The room was very clean, nice fresh linens, beautiful furniture, and coffee in our room. The front desk greeted us with a smile, very helpful with local restaurants and things to see/ info. We moved on going to Seattle when my wife realized she had left her necklace on the dresser. We returned 3-4 hours later in a panic. The clerk, who I believe was the owner, had it waiting for us at the front desk, with our cell phone charger & our dogs portable water bowl. We didn't even know we had left those items behind. How honest and thoughtful. This is a small motel with huge standards. What nice people, we'll be back!
- Rated 5 Stars (out of 5) Best Place in Sandpoint By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/08
Wow, who would have thought that such a small hotel could have such a BIG effect on our trip. This hotel is wonderful. The owner/operators are easy going and make you feel at home. The rooms are obviously newly re-done, because everything in them is sooo beautiful. The location is awesome! So close to town, you can walk anywhere you wanna go. We stayed in one of their 2-bedroom kitchen suites. There was a full size stove, fridge, and sink (complete with dishes). Made cooking breakfast easy. Also there is a lovely grass area out front, that has tables and grills. A very relaxing place to have a meal, or just take in the beauty of the mountains in the distance. Hands down the best, most affordable, place to stay in Sandpoint Idaho. We will definetly stay here again.
- Rated 5 Stars (out of 5) EXCELLENT STAY!! By animalcop, 04/28/08
We stayed at the Meandering Moose this past year during New Years Eve (2008) and found it to be very clean. The staff was pleasant, the bed cozy! Everything about it was great! Especially the price and the location! We could walk a few blocks into town when we wanted to, or to get something to eat. If I came back into town I would definitely stay there again!
